Wind Speed Sensor Model: 911-WS

  • The Model 911 Wind speed sensors use a proven 3 cup anemometer, and aerofoil vane & pointer reliability and environmental capability, with passive sensor elements for ultra low power consumption applications. The sensor set comprises the 911-A Wind speed sensor and the 911-B Wind Direction sensor.
  • Special attention has been paid to the design of the shaft for greatest strength, the bearings for low friction and low threshold, the balance of the moving parts for high wind speed withstand and the sealing system between the moving parts and the fixed body, for environmental integrity.
  • The sensors have been calibrated by a NATA laboratory and type tested up to 150km/hr for verification of strength and balance. The sensor is easily mounted on most standard examples of cross arm. This sensor has a 16 pole AC tachogenerator which outputs a square wave with a speed constant of approximately 2.5 Hz per Knot. The encoder makes it possible to read low wind speeds very accurately, by increasing the count integration time.
Wind Direction Sensor Model: 911-WD

  • The Model 911 Wind sensors use a proven 3 cup anemometer, and aerofoil vane & pointer reliability and environmental capability, with passive sensor elements for ultra low power consumption applications.
  • The sensor set comprises the 911-A Wind speed sensor and the 911-B Wind Direction sensor.
  • Special attention has been paid to the design of the shaft for greatest strength, the bearings for low friction and low threshold, the balance of the moving parts for high wind speed withstand and the sealing system between the moving parts and the fixed body, for environmental integrity. The sensors have been calibrated by a NATA laboratory and type tested up to 150km/hr for verification of strength and balance. The sensor is easily mounted on most standard examples of cross arm.
  • This sensor features a 360 degree continuous rotation potentiometer giving a changing resistance or resistance ratio for changes of the wind direction, effectively with an extremely fine resolution. The inbuilt encoder element has high resistance to thermal and motional shock.
Ultrasonic Wind Sensor Model: 911-UWS

  • The 911-UWS delivers a state-of-the-art solution for reliable, accurate and cost-effective wind speed and directional measurement in a single non-mechanical device.
  • The elimination of moving parts from the sensor, together with a rugged stainless steel construction, means that 911-UWS is virtually maintenance free and requires no calibration on site. The new flexible design ensures that the 911-UWS can be configured by the user to their exact requirements. Communication is via an industry standard RS-422 bi-directional link and whilst is fully compatible with the MTECH Systems 2060 AWS RTU it can also be used with many other standard weather data loggers.
  • This sensor is rigorously tested to internationally recognised standards and meets the stringent performance criteria specified by meteorological, naval and airport authorities and oil and utility companies around the world
  • For wind speed the sensor has an impressive resolution of 0.01 M/s. For wind direction this device has an ICAO and WMO compliant resolution of 1.0 degrees.
  • The 911 sensor utilizes a 12V DC power supply from the data-logger or Data telemetry unit. The heated head keeps the unit free from ice and snow, providing continuous use even in the most extreme weather conditions.
  • The rugged stainless steel construction means that the sensor is virtually maintenance free even in the harshest and most hazardous environments. The 911-UWS requires no calibration on site. The sensor comes as standard with a calibration check hood which verifies the sensor geometry.
